THE REVIEW
When I received this album Believers & Deceivers from the band Brighteye Brison, I have to say I'd not heard of them, but straight off the bat I knew I was going to love it. Unusually I played the second track on the album 'After The Storm' first. I just liked the title. What I heard was a piece of music that was reminiscent to one of my favorite prog rock bands, Gentle Giant.
I have to tell you, I never thought I'd ever hear a band that had the same vibe as Gentle Giant, I've heard loads of bands that try and do a Genesis, Rush or Yes but never the Giant!
I also knew I was in for some fun when I saw that there were a couple of tracks on the album that were long and I'm talking about The Harvest coming in at 20:37 and The Grand Event at a whopping 34:44. Both of these tracks are really good, I mean really good! After listening to this album at least 10 times in the week I got it, I am quite confident to say that it will be one of those albums that will be on my playlist standing side by side with the greats.
There are vibes of the best of 70's progressive rock laced all the way through this album. I've already mentioned the vibe of Gentle Giant, but there's also hints of Gong, Genesis (Gabriel era) Van der Graaf Generator, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and so on.
I'm not talking about a band that is trying to sound like any of these bands, I saying that they are in the same mold; they are a band in their own right that embodies the same soundS, feeling and vibe as the bands that we loved throughout the golden age of progressive rock. Per Hallman, One of the two keyboard players in the band plays a Mellotron.
I think I can guarantee that any prog rock fan will love this album; however I'd love to get your opinion as well. It's not very often you get an album that you can say is just like the 70's prog you love, but sounds totally original and not attempting to be some half assed carbon copy of your favorite band or bands. Defiantly one for the collection.

Listen to The Harvest which is over 20 minutes long but is so well written that you just get absorbed in the music and it's over all too soon.
